Drake brought one of his musical idols to his stage at October World Weekend in Toronto: fellow Canadian Nelly Furtado.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank goodness I’m a nice, humble, well-spoken \u2014 I like to deal with people the right way \u2014 because that’s the only way that you can get this<\/em> next person out of the house to come do what they’re gonna do right now,\u201d Drake told the crowd at his hometown club History on Thursday night (July 28).<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t care how loud you sang tonight. Right now I need you to sing as loud as you possibly can because this right here took a lot,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis next person’s music changed my life so much,\u201d added Drake. \u201cI love her with all my heart, so when she comes out here you better show her some f\u2014in’ love too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Furtado then joined Drake on stage at a concert he’d billed as \u201ca celebration of the music that paved the way for all of us.\u201d She walked out to 2006 hit \u201cPromiscious\u201d before launching into her 2001 breakthrough, \u201cI’m Like a Bird.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drake encouraged his \u201cchoir\u201d of an audience to sing along \u2014 \u201cthey have beautiful voices,\u201d he insisted \u2014 to \u201cI’m Like a Bird.\u201d He also chimed in himself, faithfully crooning \u201cthough my love is true\u201d and other parts of the tune’s chorus before hugging the singer.<\/p>\n

October World Weekend festivities continue on Monday. Chris Brown and Lil Baby headlined Budweiser Stage on Friday, July 29, and Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne will be on the same stage on Aug. one.<\/p>\n
