TOfter the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard appeared to come to an end last week, the seven members of the popular jury are due to meet this Tuesday to deliberate in search of their final verdictalthough it is uncertain when they will make a decision.

Last Friday the jury began deliberating, but had to take a break after the weekend and Memorial Day, so they are back to choose whether there has been defamation by Heard or Depp, but will not find either actor guilty or not guilty?

Why won’t Depp or Heard be found guilty or not guilty?

Considering that despite the fact that during the weeks that the trial has lasted there has been no shortage of different accusations from one to the other, in the trial between Depp and Heard there have been no allegations of abuse, assault or rape.

Therefore, it is not a criminal case, it is only a defamation case. As such, the mission of the seven jurors is not to find either of the actors guilty or not guilty.

Instead, each juror must fill out a form given to them by the judge, which does not speak of a crime.

Depending on whether the jury rules that Heard defamed Depp and / or that Depp defamed Heard, the form has two boxes to set the respective damages award: compensatory damagesif damages are sought, and punitive damagesif punishment is sought.
