Andy Stankiewicz, who has a wealth of experience as a player, coach, and manager, is the new head coach of the Trojans. With the season just around the corner, Stankiewicz is already looking forward to the challenge of leading USC to success on the diamond.<\/p>\n<p>Stankiewicz has a long history in the game of baseball. He was a four-year starter at the University of Arizona, where he was a two-time All-American and the Wildcats\u2019 all-time leader in hits. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the third round of the 1985 MLB Draft, and went on to play seven seasons in the majors with the Yankees, Seattle Mariners, and Houston Astros. After his playing career, Stankiewicz served as a coach and manager in the minor leagues for the Yankees, Astros, and Arizona Diamondbacks. He was most recently the manager of the D-Backs\u2019 Triple-A affiliate in Reno, Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>Stankiewicz brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the USC program. He is a proven winner, having led the Reno Aces to the Pacific Coast League championship in 2018. He is also highly respected in the game, having been named Minor League Manager of the Year by Baseball America in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>With the start of the season just weeks away, Stankiewicz is eager to get to work. He has already put together a strong coaching staff, and has been busy recruiting and evaluating potential players. He is also looking to instill a culture of hard work and dedication in the program, and is confident that the Trojans will be competitive in the Pac-12 and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Stankiewicz is taking over a program that has been among the best in the nation in recent years. The Trojans have made the NCAA Tournament in each of the last four seasons, and have advanced to the College World Series twice in that span.
