Jon Rahm of Spain took a three-shot lead at the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, California. Rahm shot a 7-under 64 to move to 14-under par for the tournament, three shots ahead of second-place Dustin Johnson.<\/p>\n
Tiger Woods, playing in his first tournament since undergoing back surgery in December, impressed with a 3-under 68. Woods is now in a tie for 11th place at 6-under par, eight shots behind Rahm.<\/p>\n
Rahm, who is looking for his third PGA Tour victory, birdied five of his first six holes on Saturday to take the lead. He then added four more birdies on the back nine to complete his round.<\/p>\n
“I’m very happy with the way I played today,” Rahm said after his round. “I felt like I was in control of my game and I was able to play with a lot of confidence. I’m looking forward to the final round tomorrow and hopefully I can keep playing like I did today.”<\/p>\n
Johnson, who is looking for his first win of the season, shot a 4-under 67 on Saturday to remain in second place. He birdied three of his last four holes to move within three shots of Rahm.<\/p>\n
Rounding out the top five are Scottie Scheffler (10-under), Jason Kokrak (9-under), and Cameron Smith (8-under).<\/p>\n
Woods, who is playing in his first tournament since the 2019 Masters, started his round with five straight pars before making birdies on the sixth and seventh holes. He then added two more birdies on the back nine to finish his round at 3-under par.<\/p>\n
Woods was pleased with his performance on Saturday and is looking forward to the final round on Sunday.<\/p>\n
“I felt like I played well today,” Woods said. “I was able to hit some good shots and make some putts. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully I can keep playing like I did today.”<\/p>\n
