Former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan has reportedly interviewed for the open defensive coordinator job with the Denver Broncos. Ryan, who was fired by the Bills after the 2016 season, has been out of coaching since then and is looking to get back into the league.

The Denver Broncos are in need of a defensive coordinator after Wade Phillips left to become the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator. Ryan has been linked to the job since Phillips’ departure and now it appears he has interviewed for the position.

Ryan has a long history of success as a defensive coordinator, most notably with the Baltimore Ravens from 2005 to 2008. During that time, the Ravens defense was consistently one of the best in the NFL, and Ryan was considered one of the top defensive minds in the league.

In addition to his time in Baltimore, Ryan also served as the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets from 2009 to 2014. During his tenure with the Jets, the team made two AFC Championship appearances and was consistently one of the best defenses in the league.

Ryan is also familiar with the Broncos, as he spent two seasons as the team’s linebackers coach from 2015 to 2016. During that time, the Broncos won the Super Bowl in 2015 and Ryan was credited with helping to develop the team’s young linebackers.

It remains to be seen if Ryan will be the Broncos’ next defensive coordinator, but it is clear that he is interested in the position. If hired, Ryan would bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Broncos’ defense and could help the team get back to its winning ways.
