Duke basketball star Trevor Keels reportedly made a final decision on his basketball future. After mulling it over, Keels will remain in the 2022 NBA Draft process, for Stadium’s Jeff Goodman. Players who had yet to announce their decision earlier in the process had until 11:59 pm ET June 1 to remain in the draft process or go back to college.

“Duke freshman Trevor Keels has decided to remain in the NBA Draft,” Goodman wrote. “Was a difficult decision for Keels – who was torn on whether to leave Duke after one season.”

In his lone season with the Blue Devils, Keels played in 36 games (26 starts), averaging 30.2 minutes per game and finished with 11.5 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, 2.7 assists per game, shot 41.9% from the floor and 31.2 % from three-point range.

Keels was a significant player for the Blue Devils all season long but stepped up in a big way during the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In that game against Michigan State, Keels went 4-of-8 from the floor and scored 12 points coming off of the bench. Keels eclipsed the 20-point mark three times during his freshman season, including a career-high 27 points in a 30-point win over Pittsburgh in March.

“We wish Trevor nothing but the very best as he enters the NBA Draft process,” former head coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a release. “Trevor made tremendous improvement throughout the year and stepped up for us in critical moments. His play di lui late in the season was so important for us in winning the West Regional and reaching the Final Four. It’s been a joy having Trevor and his family di lui in our program and we’ll continue to be here for him as he explores this next step of his career. “

As a member of the Class of 2021, Keels was a five-star prospect out of Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI Catholic according to the 247Sports Composite. He was the No. 1 overall prospect in Virginia, the No. 3 shooting guard prospect in the class and the No. 23 overall prospect in the class.

Coming out of high school, Keels projected as a first-round pick in the NBA Draft.. In the evaluation, Meyer compared Keels to Gary Harrisa current guard that plays for the Orlando Magic.

“Tremendous physical strength for a shooting guard,” Keels’ 247Sports HS scouting report read. “Has length as well. Highly competitive with an impressive basketball IQ. He plays a power game but can score from all three levels. Solid ball handler. Good passer. He has strength to be a better rebounder. Solid defender. “
