{"id":34415,"date":"2022-08-03T16:50:51","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T16:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/nicki-minajs-dads-killer-sentenced-to-one-year-in-jail-after-hit-and-run\/"},"modified":"2022-08-03T16:50:51","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T16:50:51","slug":"nicki-minajs-dads-killer-sentenced-to-one-year-in-jail-after-hit-and-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/nicki-minajs-dads-killer-sentenced-to-one-year-in-jail-after-hit-and-run\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicki Minaj&#8217;s dad&#8217;s killer &#8216;sentenced to one year in jail&#8217; after hit-and-run"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure class=\" img-container shareable-item wp-caption\" style=\"max-width:540px\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n<p>\n<\/div><figcaption>The man who killed Nicki Minaj&#8217;s dad in a hit-and-run has been jailed (Picture: Instagram \/ Nassau County Police)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"\">The driver who killed Nicki Minaj&#8217;s dad has been sentenced to one year in prison, it has been claimed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Bang Bang rapper&#8217;s father, Robert Maraj, died last year following a hit-and-run accident in February, at the age of 64.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He was thought to be walking in Long Island when he was struck \u2013 and was taken to hospital in a &#8216;critical condition&#8217; but succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Police officers were able to track the car down to Charles Polevich&#8217;s home using various &#8216;pieces of video&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He was thought to have &#8216;covered up&#8217; the car in his garage and &#8216;did things to alter&#8217; them being able to locate it. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Polevich later turned himself in over the accident and pleaded guilty to two felony charges \u2013 leaving the scene of an auto accident with a fatality and tampering with evidence.<\/p>\n<figure class=\" img-container shareable-item wp-caption\" style=\"max-width:540px\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"540\" height=\"530\" data-rsz=\"shrink\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/PRI_182863430-e1659543601898.jpg?resize=540%2C530&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Nicki Minaj dad dead\" class=\"wp-image-14081295\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/>\n<\/div><figcaption>Nicki&#8217;s dad Robert died last year (Picture: Instagram)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"\">The driver was facing a possible term of seven years behind bars, but TMZ has now reported that he was sentenced to one year in jail on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">His license will also be suspended for six months, and he has been handed a $5,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Minaj has not yet spoken about the news.<\/p>\n<figure class=\" img-container shareable-item wp-caption\" style=\"max-width:540px\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"540\" height=\"792\" data-rsz=\"shrink\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/GettyImages-842704896.jpg?resize=540%2C792&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Nicki Minaj\" class=\"wp-image-17122082\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/>\n<\/div><figcaption>Nicki issued a heartfelt letter after his death (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"\">The Grammy-winner previously paid tribute to her late dad in a touching open letter to fans, describing it as the &#8216;most devastating loss&#8217; she has faced so far.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">She shared the message three months after his death, explaining that she still kept wanting to get in touch with him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8216;Tho I can&#8217;t really bring myself to discuss the passing of my father as yet;  I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life [sic],&#8217; the mom-of-one penned.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"zone-post-strip trending-post-strip\" data-nosnippet=\"\" data-vars-type=\"trending-post-strip\">\n<h3 class=\"zopo-more\">More: Trending<br \/>\n<\/h3>\n<\/aside>\n<p class=\"\">&#8216;I find myself wanting to call him all the time.
