Queen Elizabeth II is doing her best to push through her Platinum Jubilee activities.<\/p>\n

Despite experiencing \u201cdiscomfort\u201d earlier in the day – leading her to cancel Friday’s scheduled visit to St Paul’s Cathedral – the 96-year-old monarch attended an event at Windsor Castle late Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Queen led the lighting of the principal Jubilee beacon, celebrating the royal’s 70 years of leadership.<\/p>\n

Her Majesty wore a turquoise dress and her classic pearl accessories as she was presented with the Commonwealth Nations Globe.<\/p>\n

As she touched the symbolic icon, the platform she was standing on – along with hundreds of small lights that were placed on the lawn – illuminated both white and pink. <\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, Queen Elizabeth attended her Birthday Parade and Flypast.<\/p>\n

And while she appeared in good spirits, she revealed that she would not be attending Friday’s National Service of Thanksgiving. <\/p>\n

“The Queen greatly enjoyed today’s Birthday Parade and Flypast but did experience some discomfort,” a spokesperson for the royal family said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty with great reluctance has concluded that she will not attend.”<\/p>\n

The statement concluded, “The Queen is looking forward to participating in tonight’s Beacon lighting event at Windsor Castle and would like to thank all those who made today such a memorable occasion.”<\/p>\n
