{"id":34893,"date":"2022-06-03T10:17:28","date_gmt":"2022-06-03T10:17:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/tesla-jobs-elon-musk-has-super-bad-feeling-on-economy\/"},"modified":"2022-06-03T10:17:28","modified_gmt":"2022-06-03T10:17:28","slug":"tesla-jobs-elon-musk-has-super-bad-feeling-on-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/tesla-jobs-elon-musk-has-super-bad-feeling-on-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"Tesla jobs: Elon Musk has &#8216;super bad feeling&#8217; on economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_EA52870C-C3B2-7D56-55FE-289181F2F5A9\"><span>Tesla<\/span> <span>(<span class=\"inlink_chart\">TSLA<\/span>)<\/span> employed around 100,000 people in the company and its subsidiaries at the end of 2021, according to its annual SEC filing.<\/div>\n<p>The company was not immediately available for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Musk&#8217;s stark warning of a potential recession and the knock-on effect for automakers is the most direct and high-profile forecast of its kind in the industry.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>While concerns about the risk of a recession have grown, demand for Tesla cars and other electric vehicles has remained strong and many of the traditional indicators of a downturn &#8211; including increasing dealer inventories in the United States &#8211; have not materialized.<\/p>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_3F85FF7C-45A9-D2B7-0F08-28B4C4DF9436\">But Tesla has struggled to restart production at its Shanghai factory after Covid-19 lockdowns forced costly outages at the plant.<\/div>\n<div class=\"el__embedded el__embedded--standard\">\n<div class=\"el__storyelement--standard el__article--embed\">\n<div class=\"el__article--teaseimage\"><noscript><img alt=\"Brace yourselves for an economic 'hurricane,'  Jamie Dimon says\" class=\"media__image\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cdn.cnn.com\/cnnnext\/dam\/assets\/191110201249-jamie-dimon-file-0925-large-169.jpg?ssl=1\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/noscript><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_1095E0C2-7DBB-5BC8-AC77-28B4C4E6D7D3\">Musk&#8217;s gloomy outlook echoes recent comments from executives including <span>JPMorgan Chase<\/span> <span>(<span class=\"inlink_chart\">JPM<\/span>)<\/span> CEO Jamie Dimon and <span>Goldman Sachs<\/span> <span>(<span class=\"inlink_chart\">GS<\/span>)<\/span> President John Waldron.<\/div>\n<p>A &#8220;hurricane is right out there down the road coming our way,&#8221; Dimon said this week. <\/p>\n<p>Inflation in the United States is hovering at 40-year highs and has caused a jump in the cost of living for Americans, while the Federal Reserve faces the difficult task of dampening demand enough to curb inflation while not causing a recession.<\/p>\n<p><h3>&#8216;Pause all hiring&#8217;<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>Before Musk&#8217;s warning, which came in an email titled &#8220;pause all hiring worldwide,&#8221; Tesla had about 5,000 job postings on LinkedIn from sales in Tokyo and engineers in its new Berlin gigafactory to deep learning scientists in Palo Alto.<\/p>\n<p>Musk&#8217;s demand that staff return to the office has already faced pushback in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone at Tesla is required to spend a minimum of 40 hours in the office per week,&#8221; Musk wrote in his Tuesday email.  &#8220;If you don&#8217;t show up, we will assume you have resigned.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_9EAC6837-947A-A793-19EA-28B4C4F5A435\">Musk also engaged on Thursday in a Twitter spat with Australia tech billionaire and <span>Atlassian<\/span> <span>(<span class=\"inlink_chart\">TEAM<\/span>)<\/span> co-founder Scott Farquhar, who ridiculed the directive in a series of tweets as being &#8220;like something out of the 1950s.&#8221; <\/div>\n<p>Musk tweeted: &#8220;recessions serve a vital economic cleansing function&#8221; in response to a tweet by Farquhar who encouraged Tesla employees to look into its remote work positions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>    .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tesla (TSLA) employed around 100,000 people in the company and its subsidiaries at the end of 2021, according to its annual SEC filing.
