Ashley Williams flipped to Auburn on Wednesday. The four-star from Zachary (La.) High decommitted from Nebraska following an appearance in the Plains for Big Cat Weekend.

Williams, listed as the No. 350 national recruits and No. 37 edge rusher, becomes the Tigers’ second defensive line prospect added in the last week. Like Florida four-star Wilky Denaud, Williams is a long run-stuffer that can get after the quarterback.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Williams recorded 14 sacks last year, 22 tackles for loss and 89 total stops. He also returned a fumble for a touchdown. Williams committed to Nebraska in July, but continued to hear from Tigers’ coaches, notably linebackers coach Roc Bellantoni.

It’s the third win following Auburn’s premier recruiting weekend. Tigers’ coaches landed a pair of 2024 recruits in Moody four-star cornerback A’Mon Lane and four-star Florida quarterback Adrian Posse in the immediate aftermath of Big Cat.

Williams is a teammate of current Alabama-commit Eli Holstein at Zachary, the winners of the 2021 Louisiana 5A state championship. Auburn has six commits in the 2023 class, all are four-stars. Williams is the third defender of the group, joining Denaud and top-20 safety Terrance Love (Georgia).

Bryan Harsin’s class is now ranked 63rd in 247Sports composite rankings. Auburn is also reportedly attempting to flip one of Love’s teammates, four-star offensive tackle Bo Hughley. A top-100 recruit, Hughley committed to Georgia last September and visited the Plains on June 10.
