SOUTHERN PINES, NC – Danielle Kang revealed Friday that she played the first two rounds of the US Women’s Open with a tumor on her spine.

The 29-year-old, who is ranked No. 12 in the world, said that she learned of the diagnosis “a few weeks ago” and has undergone multiple tests but that it’s not clear yet whether the tumor is malignant or benign. She said doctors are also working to determine if the tumor is the cause of her back pain or a contributing factor.

She plans to have further tests next week and is uncertain how much playing time she will miss.
