{"id":36769,"date":"2022-06-04T19:46:03","date_gmt":"2022-06-04T19:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/josh-donaldson-in-yankees-lineup-after-10-game-il-stint\/"},"modified":"2022-06-04T19:46:03","modified_gmt":"2022-06-04T19:46:03","slug":"josh-donaldson-in-yankees-lineup-after-10-game-il-stint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/josh-donaldson-in-yankees-lineup-after-10-game-il-stint\/","title":{"rendered":"Josh Donaldson in Yankees lineup after 10-game IL stint"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Josh Donaldson was reinstated from the injured list and was back in the Yankees&#8217; starting lineup Friday for the first time since the series against Tim Anderson and the White Sox last month.<\/p>\n<p>The third baseman&#8217;s one-game suspension for helping incite a bench-clearing incident by referring to Anderson by Jackie Robinson&#8217;s first name on May 21 is still pending an appeal.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption>Josh Donaldson has missed 10 games on the IL.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Corey Sipkin<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Both Aaron Judge and Aaron Boone strongly rebuked Donaldson, but the manager reiterated that he doesn&#8217;t believe the incident will linger in the Yankees&#8217; clubhouse.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think our clubhouse is a source of strength.  I think it&#8217;s been one of our strengths.  I think it&#8217;ll continue to be, \u201dBoone said before the Yankees hosted the Tigers on Friday night.  \u201cWe&#8217;ve worked through things over these last couple of weeks.  Not going to get into too many details about that, but I&#8217;m fired up to get Josh back because not only is he a big part of our team, with what he brings on the field and how well he&#8217;s played on both sides of the ball, but an important part of what we&#8217;re doing in that clubhouse.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"no\" height=\"200\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/playlist.megaphone.fm\/?e=NYPH3805475924\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;ve certainly had conversations and have had to work through things.  But that&#8217;s also part of a season and part of being a team and part of being a family.  And he&#8217;s an enormous part of that and excited to get him back in the fold today. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p>The third baseman was activated after missing 10 games, first on the COVID-19 list and then retroactively on the 10-day IL with right shoulder inflammation.<\/p>\n<p>The 35-year-old Donaldson had said earlier this week that Judge&#8217;s criticism of him &#8211; in the aftermath of his admission that he called Anderson &#8220;Jackie&#8221; multiple times on the field during games &#8211; &#8220;was definitely tough to hear.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI talked to my teammates as soon as it happened and let them know what my intentions were,\u201d Donaldson said Wednesday.  I think everybody responded to what I had to say.  I think they know my heart.  That&#8217;s not my intention. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Donaldson explained on the night of his latest on-field flap with Anderson that he often jokingly used Robinson&#8217;s name because the White Sox shortstop had referred to himself as \u201ctoday&#8217;s Jackie Robinson\u201d during a 2019 Sports illustrated article.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson responded last week that he never felt those jabs were jokes.  Judge also said in the days after the incident that &#8220;joke or not, I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s the right thing to do there.&#8221;  Boone similarly stated that Donaldson \u201cshouldn&#8217;t have gone there\u201d by invoking Robinson&#8217;s name.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat&#8217;s something we&#8217;ll handle internally and get it figured out, &#8221; Judge said Wednesday.  \u201cHe&#8217;s a big leader in this room, and a lot of guys look up to him.  That was a tough situation he&#8217;s been in, and he&#8217;s on the injured list now and he&#8217;s coming back from that. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Donaldson was batting .238 with five homers and 15 RBIs in 37 games before batting in the cleanup spot Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe&#8217;s kind of passed all of the tests he&#8217;s needed to.  He&#8217;s been feeling really good the last three or four days.  So I think it was inevitable it was going to probably be this day, when he was eligible, \u201dBoone said Friday.  \u201cExcited to get him back.
