Approximately two weeks removed from his Rutgers decommitment, North Penn (Lansdale, Pa.) High School receiver Yazeed Haynes<\/b> will spend this Saturday at Penn State. The three-star prospect confirmed that he is heading to Happy Valley, where the Nittany Lions will host their first prospect camp of 2022.<\/p>\n

Penn State coaches will gain a closer look at athletes representing a few different recruiting classes Saturday, and receiver remains a position to monitor closely within 2023 plans. May featured a few developments on that front, as the Nittany Lions landed a pledge from four-star prospect Ejani Shakir<\/b>saw longtime Top247 target Rodney Gallagher<\/b> commit to West Virginia, and offered \/ scheduled official visits with Anthony Evans<\/b> and Carmelo Taylor<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Haynes spent two months as a member of Rutgers’ class, dating back to a March 24 announcement. He reopened his recruiting process May 23, and soon after scheduled an official visit to Minnesota for June 17-19. The Golden Gophers offered him in late April.<\/p>\n

Haynes’ earlier offers included Boston College, Maryland, Ole Miss, and West Virginia. He is evaluated by 247Sports as three-star talent, tagged with an 86 rating and ranked 119th overall among receivers in the 2023 cycle.<\/p>\n

247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn supplied some background context upon Haynes’ March debut in site rankings.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Haynes played his junior season at Philadelphia Neumann Goretti but transferred to North Penn recently after his family moved,” Dohn noted.<\/span> “<\/i><\/b>Haynes debuts in the 247Sports rankings with <\/span><\/strong>an 86 rating after a live evaluation during the season and after breaking down his tape. Haynes is raw but he has athleticism and shows speed. He shows an ability to separate and he can be a threat down the field. <\/span>Adding strength throughout his frame and becoming a more reliable pass catcher will allow Haynes to elevate his game. There is a lot with which to work. “<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Penn State will begin camp action Saturday afternoon, and host several prospect events throughout June. The Nittany Lions currently carry 12 total commitments in a 2023 class ranked third nationally.<\/span><\/p>\n
