When I was an up-and-coming artist, I was shocked to discover that my body was being ‘commodified’ by record labels. I was seen as a product and my worth was determined by my looks and my ability to sell records. It was a difficult thing to come to terms with, as I had worked so hard to get to where I was and the idea of being judged on something that I had no control over felt wrong.

I should always strive to be true to myself and to create art that is meaningful and authentic. I should never let anyone else dictate my worth or value me based on my appearance.
