It also gave the Mets a series split despite losing the first two games in dispiriting fashion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"Styles__MarkdownContainer-dxqlie-0 eJdqRG\">\n<p>Trailing for nearly all of Sunday&#8217;s finale, the Mets rallied to take the lead in the eighth on back-to-back doubles by Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso, a sacrifice fly by Eduardo Escobar and an RBI single from Tom\u00e1s Nido.  Manager Buck Showalter then turned to closer Edwin D\u00edaz in the eighth rather than the ninth, because it allowed D\u00edaz to face the Dodgers&#8217; three best hitters &#8211; Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Trea Turner &#8211; instead of a lower-leverage situation in the ninth.
