Nintendo has filed a pair of interesting copyrights ahead of next year’s debut of the Mario movie: Nintendo Studios and M Brothers Productions.

Both of these names have been spotted in the US trademark database under the page for the film. The thought is that Nintendo will be listing its movies under Nintendo Studios and M Brothers Productions going forward, as both should be specifically for visual content production.

In September 2020, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said it had “already embarked on multiple other visual expansion projects, and are pursuing further opportunities.” He further teased that “visual content expansion initiatives may not be limited to film.” Furukara would go on to say, “The scale of our investments will vary based on the type of project, but we will continue to invest in these entertainment expansion initiatives to increase the number of people who have access to our IP.”

The Super Mario Bros. animated movie was originally set for release this December. However, a couple of months ago, it was delayed to April 2023. The cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey, Kong Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek Sebastian , Maniscalco as Spike, and there’ll be surprise cameos from Charles Martinet.
