Capcom confirmed earlier today that it will be hosting its own presentation called Capcom Showcase next week.

However, its announcement seemed to suggest there would be no new reveals, stating that it would feature “around 35 minutes of news and in-depth updates on previously announced Capcom titles”. This doesn’t completely rule out a surprise announcement, however.

Last month Capcom launched a 10th anniversary website for Dragon’s Dogma, reigniting speculation that a sequel to the game may be on the way.

The critically acclaimed action RPG was originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on May 22, 2012.

An expanded version of the game titled Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen was released the following year before being ported to PC in 2016, PS4 and Xbox One in 2017, and Nintendo Switch in 2019.

References to Dragon’s Dogma 2 were included in both a Capcom data breach in November 2020 and an Nvidia Geforce Now leak in September 2021.

It remains to be seen if Capcom has plans for a follow-up, but the publisher recently suggested during an investor relations Q&A that it could revive some of its dormant game series.

Capcom currently has multiple titles in the works, with both Resident Evil 4 remake and Resident Evil Village VR recently confirmed, and Street Fighter 6 getting its first gameplay reveal last week.
