The Pogues’ frontman Shane MacGowan has paid tribute to the band’s bass player Darryl Hunt who sadly died aged 72.<\/p>\n

The band’s official social media account announced that he died on Monday afternoon in London, by quoting their song Love You ‘Till The End, which was written by the bassist.<\/p>\n

Singer Shane, 64, later described Darryl as a ‘great friend and a great bass player’ in his own tribute to his late bandmate.<\/p>\n

Shane penned on Twitter: ‘I am very very sorry that Darryl has passed on, he was a really nice guy and a great friend and a great bass player.’<\/p>\n

‘We will all miss him. May he have a happy state of eternal bliss and bless his family and friends love Shane. ‘<\/p>\n

The Pogues of frontman Shane, Jem Finer, James Fearnley, Andrew Ranken, Terry Woods, Hunt and other musicians throughout the years.<\/p>\n

They said in their joint tribute: ‘I know you want to hear me catch my breath \/ I love you till the end.’ <\/p>\n

Bandmate Spider Stacy also paid tribute to Hunt on Twitter, writing: ‘This is wretched. See you around the way, Daz. ‘It’s in the fridge’ #TrickyTrees”.<\/p>\n

Hunt, born in Hampshire on May 4 1950, joined the Irish London punk rock group first as roadie and then as a bassist in 1986. <\/p>\n

He then went on to collaborate on their 1988 album If I Should Fall From Grace With God which featured the Christmas hit Fairytale Of New York. <\/p>\n

Hunt started out as part of the pub rock band Plummet Airlines and The Favorites. <\/p>\n

Beginning his time as a roadie, according to RTE, he was first involved in the London Irish band’s 1988 album If I Should Fall From Grace With God which featured the Christmas hit Fairytale Of New York.<\/p>\n

Hunt featured in material until their last album, Pogue Mahone, in 1996 and also has writing credits on a number of their songs including Love You Til the End.<\/p>\n
