We’ve known for some time that Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam would take on the Justice Society of America in the upcoming Black Adam movie, but now we’re getting an even better idea of what these characters will look like when the movie hits theaters on October 21.

New photos from Vanity Fair are giving us a closer look at Atom Smasher, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Doctor Fate. Based on appearance alone, it may be a tall task for Black Adam to kill them all, as discussed at San Diego Comic-Con. You can take a look for yourself below.

Beyond Johnson’s Black Adam, the upcoming movie will include four other members of the Justice Society of America: Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate, and Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone. Some of these characters also appeared in the SDCC 2022 Black Adam trailer, but this is the best look we’ve gotten so far.

The Justice Society of America has deep roots in the DC comics, originally debuting in 1941. On the screen, a version of the group has already appeared in the Stargirl TV series. You can find out more about the group in our breakdown of Black Adam’s Justice Society of America.

It’s an uncertain time for many DC projects right now, following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. The high-profile cancellation of Batgirl kicked off a wave of drama for DC, leading to a number of other impacted movies and series. While Black Adam is likely to be a slam dunk for the company, it’s unclear how anything fits into DC’s new ten-year plan, as even the previously-announced sequel to The Batman isn’t a sure thing. However, with Black Adam’s apparent ties to the wider DC Universe, it seems more than likely that Black Adam could be a part of this ten-year plan, as opposed to The Batman’s more standalone nature.
