\tTeddy Ray, a rising comedic talent with appearances on Wild ‘n’ Out<\/em>, How to Be Broke<\/em> and Pause With Sam Jay<\/em> and MTV comedy clip show messyness<\/em>, has died. He was 32. <\/p>\n

\n

\tThe comedian, actor and writer whose legal name is Theadore Brown was found deceased in Rancho Mirage, California, after Riverside County sheriff’s deputies received a call and responded to a private residence in the desert community at 10 am on Friday, Sgt. Brandi Swan told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n

\tA cause of death for the Gardena, California, resident is currently unknown, and the investigation is being handled by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, according to Swan. <\/p>\n

\n

\tThe multi-hyphenate served as the co-host of Ridiculousness<\/em> spinoff messyness<\/em> \u2014 which was renewed for a second season last December \u2014 and appeared alongside reality star Nicole \u201cSnooki\u201d Polizzi, actress Tori Spelling and ice skater Adam Rippon. But Ray had also made a number of other scripted and reality TV appearances, including in guest roles on the HBO Max series Pause With Sam Jay<\/em> and voicing a character named Teddy in Comedy Central’s How to Be Broke<\/em>an animated series which he also wrote for. <\/p>\n

\n

\tLast year, Ray appeared in an episode of Defiant Digital’s <\/strong>improv comedy courtroom show Cancel Court<\/em>, where comedians battle it out on opposing sides of a faux trial to judge whether a celebrity should be \u201ccanceled.\u201d That was after he starred in a number of web series, including 2017’s Black Student Union<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n

\tIn terms of his stand-up, the young talent previously appeared on Wild ‘n’ Out<\/em>Comedy Central’s Colossal Clusterfest<\/em> and HBO’s All Def Comedy<\/em>. Having performed around the country, Ray’s most recent club appearances were in June and July at DC’s Comedy Loft and LA’s HaHa Comedy Club. <\/p>\n

\tRay rose to internet fame through his viral \u201cdouble cheek\u201d meme, which came from a parody of Diane Sawyer’s 2017 Caitlyn Jenner interview that was produced by All Def Digital & Doctor Chorizo \u200b\u200bComedy. <\/p>\n

\n

\tFollowing the news of his passing, Ray’s Hollywood friends and fellow talents remembered the young performer on social media. <\/p>\n

\n

\tIn a statement posted to Twitter, which also featured a photo of Ray, insecure<\/em> and Rap Sh!t<\/em> creator Issa Rae’s production company Hoorae remembered the \u201clongtime creative collaborator and friend.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tAbbott Elementary<\/em> creator and star Quinta Brunson took to Ray’s final Instagram post, writing in the comments, \u201cHeartbroken. Gonna miss you teddy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tAll Def, a multi-platform media company that works at the intersections of hip-hop, comedy and social justice, shared their \u201cdeepest condolences and prayers to his immediate family and friends\u201d on social media. <\/p>\n

\n

\t\u201cAll Def Family we’re heartbroken and still can’t believe that our brother Teddy Ray has passed away,\u201d the company posted in a statement<\/a>. \u201cWe will miss him everyday but we know he will have Heaven laughing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

\tIn a tweet, Comedy Central also remembered the \u201cbeloved performer,\u201d sharing that he will be \u201cdeeply missed\u201d by the comedy community. <\/p>\n

\tOther notable names on the comedy scene, including Deon Cole, Kat Williams, Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, all shared their condolences over his passing. <\/p>\n

\n

\tWilliams called the burgeoning talent \u201cbrilliant,\u201d writing in the comments of his last Instagram post, \u201cSo sorry. Love u,\u201d while Cole also replied \u201cWow.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n

\tDaniel Baker, known professionally as Desus Nice, tweeted<\/a> \u201crip teddy ray, he was a real one.\u201d The Kid Mero, whose real name is Joel Martinez, tweeted Ray had \u201ceffortless wit.\u201d <\/p>\n
