College football rankings are out in full force ahead of the 2022 season with the AP Top 25 Poll releasing Monday, an early look at who media members have slotted as the most complete teams entering the new campaign. Last season, Alabama was the preseason No. 1 in the Coaches and AP rankings, and entered the College Football Playoff as SEC champion and top seed before losing to Georgia in the 2022 National Championship Game.

The Crimson Tide should be No. 1 once more in the AP, but other threats aren’t as predictable. There is one voter who excluded expected elite Clemson from the top 10 of his AP ballot — the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy. Per the AP, the weekly top 25 began on Oct. 19, 1936, and it is now the longest-running poll that awards national titles in existence. The preseason version of the AP Poll started in 1950, and 62 media members vote weekly to determine the rankings.
