The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the first Samsung smartphone to run Android 12L. Google developed this OS version for large-screen and foldable devices, and Samsung paired the OS with an updated version of One UI, ie, One UI 4.1.1. Let’s check it out in our latest video below.

As you may have guessed, One UI 4.1.1 brings minor refinements over the existing One UI 4.1 version. It borrows a few elements from the One UI 5.0 beta firmware, such as the improved Bixby Vision integration with Samsung Keyboard, Camera, and Gallery.

Likewise, Android 12L and One UI 4.1.1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 enable a couple of new “Labs” features for multi-window fans. With these new options enabled, users can now swipe the corner of an app inward to enable Pop-Up View. They can also swipe from the edges of the screen using two fingers to enable multi-window mode on the fly.

Other cool new features in One UI 4.1.1 for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 include new wallpapers, a taskbar that offers a desktop-like experience, and a “View Details” button in “Battery and Device Care” for quicker access to battery usage information.

The new OS version also ships with fresh wallpapers and a slightly redesigned UI. For example, the “About phone” page now shows your device — the Galaxy Z Fold 4 — at the top.

Time will tell if the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will receive these features through a One UI 4.1.1 update or skip this version and jump straight to One UI 5.0. Until we find out more on that front, you can see Android 12L and One UI 4.1.1 in action, next to One UI 4.1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 3, in our video below.

Samsung fans can now pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in dozens of markets. The company expects to ship the phone to customers from August 26 onward.
