{"id":46256,"date":"2022-06-11T14:48:44","date_gmt":"2022-06-11T14:48:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/duke-nukem-movie-in-development-from-cobra-kai-creators-and-legendary-entertainment\/"},"modified":"2022-06-11T14:48:44","modified_gmt":"2022-06-11T14:48:44","slug":"duke-nukem-movie-in-development-from-cobra-kai-creators-and-legendary-entertainment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/duke-nukem-movie-in-development-from-cobra-kai-creators-and-legendary-entertainment\/","title":{"rendered":"Duke Nukem Movie In Development From Cobra Kai Creators and Legendary Entertainment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"\">\n<p>Legendary Entertainment and Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg are working on bringing Duke Nukem to the big screen.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by THR, Legendary acquired the movie rights from Gearbox and will be producing the movie alongside Jean Julien Baronnet of Marla Studios, the company behind the Assassin&#8217;s Creed film. <\/p>\n<p><output class=\"article-video-container\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The film currently is in search for a writer and director, and THR notes that &#8220;the door is open for one of the Counterbalance team [of Heald, Hurwitz, and Schlossberg] to potentially sit behind the camera. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Duke Nukem was created by Apogee Software (now 3D Realms) and first appeared in 1991&#8217;s Duke Nukem for PC.  Since then, the character who is a parody of Hollywood action heroes has built a $ 1 billion video game franchise and helped pave the way for first-person shooters. <\/p>\n<p>His recent track record hasn&#8217;t been as impressive, as his last true outing was 2011&#8217;s Duke Nukem Forever.  In our review, we said, &#8220;Duke Nukem Forever isn&#8217;t a revitalization of the early days of the first-person shooter genre or a middle-finger to the increasingly complex and sophisticated nature of videogame entertainment. It&#8217;s a muddled, hypocritical exercise in irritation with solid shooting mechanics and decent encounter design. There&#8217;s some dumb fun to be had in Duke Nukem Forever, but the game tries hard to ensure it&#8217;s only fleeting. &#8220;<\/p>\n<section data-transform=\"object-feedback\"\/><output class=\"article-video-container\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In 2018, it was reported that John Cena was on board to star in a Duke Nukem movie adaptation for Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes.  That production didn&#8217;t end up taking off, but it appears Duke will attempt to ride again soon.  Will John Cena once again sign on to play him, especially after he recently played a similar character in Peacemaker?
