They called up right-handed reliever Greg Weissert from Triple A to join the team in Oakland.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Prior to tonight&#8217;s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves:<br \/>\u2022Placed LHP Nestor Cortes on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to 8\/22) with a left groin strain.<br \/>\u2022Transferred OF Harrison Bader to the 60-day injured list.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Yankees PR Dept.  (@YankeesPR) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/YankeesPR\/status\/1562932348093698049?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">August 25, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To make room on the 40-man roster to clear space for Weissert, they put injured center fielder Harrison Bader on the 60-day injured list.<\/p>\n<p>The Yankees begin a four-game series in Oakland on Thursday.  Expected starters will be Jameson Taillon, Gerrit Cole, Domingo Germ\u00e1n and a to-be-determined pitcher for the series finale on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Cortes is the latest Yankees pitcher to suffer an injury, though reliever Clay Holmes is expected to be activated while the team is on the road.  Right-hander Clarke Schmidt was recalled to the major-league roster earlier this week after being stretched out to a starter&#8217;s workload in Triple A.<\/p>\n<p>Through 23 starts, Cortes has a 2.68 ERA with 133 strikeouts in 131 innings pitched this season.  New York is coming off three straight wins after losing six out of seven games last week.
