{"id":58046,"date":"2022-08-27T14:00:11","date_gmt":"2022-08-27T14:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/rapper-notorious-bigs-mural-vandalized-in-nyc\/"},"modified":"2022-08-27T14:00:11","modified_gmt":"2022-08-27T14:00:11","slug":"rapper-notorious-bigs-mural-vandalized-in-nyc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/rapper-notorious-bigs-mural-vandalized-in-nyc\/","title":{"rendered":"Rapper Notorious BIG&#8217;s mural vandalized in NYC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A mural honoring legendary rapper Notorious BIG was vandalized in Brooklyn overnight on Friday, according to local reports.<\/p>\n<p>Police are searching for the vandal responsible for the heinous act that took place on the corner of St.  James Place and Fulton Street in Clinton Hill, the area where the rapper, whose real name is Christopher Wallace, grew up. <\/p>\n<p>The mural of the &#8216;Hypnotize&#8217; artist was tagged with dark red spray paint with \u201cEast Coast\u201d across Wallace&#8217;s face.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption>The Notorious BIG mural was originally created by Vincent Ballentine to celebrate the East Coast rapper&#8217;s 25th anniversary of his death.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Matthew McDermott<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Artist Vincent Ballentine created the art piece in 2019 and hangs on the wall of a Beauty World salon where Biggie spent much of his youth, according to Complex.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh the disrespect, Ballentine posted on Instagram, showing the destruction.  \u201cThe disrespect is real.  Damn shame.  Why did they do that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ballentine told CBS News he vowed to fix the mural that he initially made to celebrate the East Coast rapper&#8217;s 25th anniversary of his death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo for this to happen, people are coming by saying &#8216;Damn, they did it dirty.&#8217;  It&#8217;s bigger than me.  It&#8217;s big period, I don&#8217;t know what else to say,\u201d Ballentine told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>Notorious BIG died on March 9, 1997 when he was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.
