{"id":757,"date":"2022-07-01T04:51:39","date_gmt":"2022-07-01T04:51:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/latest-on-kevin-durant-kyrie-irving\/"},"modified":"2022-07-01T04:51:39","modified_gmt":"2022-07-01T04:51:39","slug":"latest-on-kevin-durant-kyrie-irving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/latest-on-kevin-durant-kyrie-irving\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest On Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Kevin Durant<\/strong>&#8216;s trade request increases the chances of a <strong>Kyrie Irving<\/strong> trade to the <strong>Lakers<\/strong>Jovan Buha and Sam Amick of The Athletic report.<\/p>\n<p>A straight Irving for <strong>Russell Westbrook<\/strong> swap would not work financially, so the <strong>nets<\/strong> would either have to add another contract or include a third \u2014 and perhaps fourth team \u2014 for salary-matching purposes.  Irving would be a better fit for <strong>LeBron James<\/strong> and <strong>Anthony Davis<\/strong> than Westbrook, providing better spacing offensively.<\/p>\n<p>A potential deal could also lead the Lakers to part with first-rounders in 2027 or later.<\/p>\n<p>If the Nets don&#8217;t want Westbrook&#8217;s salary, a third team could take that contract, with one of the Lakers&#8217; picks and potentially <strong>Talen Horton-Tucker<\/strong> and\/or <strong>Kendrick Nunn<\/strong> being involved.<\/p>\n<p>A source told the Athletic that the chances of the Lakers landing Durant in a deal involving Davis is \u201czero.\u201d  Their focus, apparently, is on Irving.<\/p>\n<p>We have more on the Durant\/Irving situation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the <strong>nets<\/strong> don&#8217;t appear to be interested in <strong>Deandre Ayton<\/strong>sources told John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Gambo987\/status\/1542630690054758400\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">twitter link<\/a>).  Thus, a potential trade with the <strong>suns<\/strong> may not include the restricted free agent or it would have to involve a third team.<\/li>\n<li>Irving is \u201cfully supportive\u201d of Durant&#8217;s trade request, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (hat tip to RealGM).  Irving knew Durant trade request was possible when he opted in to the final year of his contract.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ben Simmons<\/strong> would be the major impediment to the <strong>Nuggets<\/strong> getting involved in the Durant sweepstakes, Mike Singer of the Denver Post notes.  League rules stipulate that teams can&#8217;t have two players on a rookie scale max extension that have been acquired via trade. <strong>Jamal Murray<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Porter Jr.<\/strong> would both fit that description.<\/li>\n<li>In the days before Irving&#8217;s choice to opt-in, sources close to Ayton raised the possibility of an Ayton-<strong>Mikal Bridges<\/strong> deal with the <strong>nets<\/strong>, according to The Athletic&#8217;s Sam Amick.
