However, turns out the Duke and Duchess of Sussex originally had hoped to move from Kensington Palace (where they first lived together) to a &#8220;suite of apartments&#8221; in Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"caas-figure\">\n<div class=\"caas-figure-with-pb\" style=\"max-height: 481px\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"caas-img-container caas-img-loader\" style=\"padding-bottom:50%;\"><noscript><img alt=\"Photo credit: Education Images - Getty Images\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/7SVIZnVd76_hE.olFG_7iA--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTQ4MQ--\/https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/uu\/api\/res\/1.2\/PEgT6olR1XPr8.QnI5dxuw--~B\/aD03MjE7dz0xNDQwO2FwcGlkPXl0YWNoeW9u\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/cosmopolitan_438\/74e459b261b12487a867da3c61a78f17\" class=\"caas-img\"\/><\/noscript><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><figcaption class=\"caption-collapse\">Photo credit: Education Images &#8211; Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Per royal reporter Katie Nicholl in her book <em>The New Royals<\/em> (excerpted in <em>The Daily Mail<\/em>), the Queen offered Meghan and Harry Frogmore Cottage in Windsor Great Park.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The cottage was a big deal,&#8221; Lady Elizabeth Anson, who spoke to the Queen frequently during this time, told Katie, &#8220;The Queen&#8217;s entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage. It is essentially her back yard, her solitude, and her privacy. She was giving that up in gifting Harry and Meghan Frogmore Cottage. We all thought it was very big of her. She said, &#8216;I hope they&#8217;ll respect it.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The couple moved into Frogmore Cottage in April 2019, and while they eventually stepped away from senior royal duties and moved to the United States, they&#8217;ve kept Frogmore Cottage as their England residence.
