The series about the Milwaukee serial killer was categorized with the LGBTQ tag but was recently removed following criticism from the community.<\/p>\n<p>The streaming platform tags every show and movie to make search queries easier for subscribers.  Searching LGBTQ brings up shows like <em>heartstopper<\/em>, <em>Young Royals<\/em>, <em>Uncoupled<\/em>, <em>Alex Strangelove<\/em> and many more.  The series and films tagged with LGBTQ showcase characters that identify with the LGBTQ community giving representation to the often marginalized group.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"c-figure c-figure--embedded aligncenter\" style=\"width: 1024px;\">\n<p>\t<noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1235130018\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/lgbtq-tag-netflix-content.jpg?resize=1024%2C710&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"LGBTQ search on Netflix\" width=\"1024\" height=\"710\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/noscript><figcaption class=\"c-figure__caption u-flex u-flex-direction-column pmc-u-font-family-helvetica pmc-u-padding-tb-025 u-border-color-grey-medium-light u-border-b-1\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"pmc-u-font-weight-light pmc-u-font-size-12 pmc-u-color-grey-medium-dark\">Netflix<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8216;Dahmer: Monster \u2013 The Jeffrey Dahmer Story&#8217; Locks Up Netflix&#8217;s Biggest Audience Since &#8216;Stranger Things&#8217; Return<\/p>\n<p>Tagging the Dahmer series with LGBTQ made some in the community upset as that is not the representation they want.  It&#8217;s known that Dahmer targeted men and boys, with some being from the LGBTQ community, and watching the series has added to the trauma of the victims&#8217; families.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like it fetishizes this whole horrible moment in Milwaukee history.  It shouldn&#8217;t be looked at that way, it just feels completely wrong,\u201d drag performer BJ Daniels told WISN.  \u201cI know a lot of my friends, and a lot of people who lived through this period, will not be watching it.  They will not be putting money into somebody&#8217;s pocket that is literally disturbing the graves of victims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Netflix has tagged the Dahmer series with \u201cOminous\u201d and Dark,\u201d and it is unclear when they removed the LGBTQ tag.<\/p>\n<p>Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brenna, <em>Dahmer \u2014 Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story <\/em>stars Evan Peters as the titular character.
