College football fanaticism runs deep, and it doesn’t ever go away.

Tua Tagovailoa saw that Wednesday as he and his Miami Dolphins teammates were leaving a practice ahead of Thursday’s game at Cincinnati.

A Cincinnati Bearcats fan yelled a not-so-nice, four-letter word about “Bama” toward Tagovailoa as he and was walking by. Tagovailoa, with a big smile, simply replied, “You lost to us.”

The Bearcats fans posted the interaction on Twitter with a simple description: “Tua did us dirty.”

However, it wasn’t Tagovailoa that did the Bearcats wrong. It was Brian Robinson Jr., back in 2021, ran for a career-high 204 yards and Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young throwing three touchdown passes when the Tide beat Cincinnati 27-6 in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Cotton Bowl.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins and Bengals meet Thursday night in Cincinnati, both coming off important wins. The Dolphins are 3-0 following Sunday’s 21-19 win over Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. The Bengals were winless in their first two games but dominated the Jets 27-12.

The short week didn’t come at a good time for the Dolphins quarterback, who has a sore back and ankle that has limited him in practice. Tagovailoa is listed as questionable. If he can’t go, backup Teddy Bridgewater will play.
