Solange Knowles was ready for business when she arrived at the New York City Ballet’s 2022 Fall Fashion Gala on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old musician and composer grinned proudly as she walked up to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center while wearing a chic double-breasted suit.<\/p>\n

Solange was one of the guests of honor at the event, as she wrote the music for the gala’s opening piece, making her just the second Black woman to ever compose for the New York City Ballet.<\/p>\n

Solange looked effortlessly elegant as she walked up in her navy suit, which featured a white pocket square and built-in white sleeves peaking out, even though she appeared to go topless underneath her jacket.<\/p>\n

She paired the oversize jacket, which hung loosely on her trim frame, with baggy blue pants that reached nearly down to the ground. <\/p>\n

The sister of Beyonc\u00e9 Knowles stayed on the menswear theme with her shoes, which were black heels styled in the front like a black Oxford shoe.<\/p>\n

She accessorized her look with an intriguing black egg-shaped handbag, which had little metal studs on the bottom to allow it to sit upright. <\/p>\n

She completed her look with gorgeous raven braids tied high and cascading down her back.<\/p>\n

The Don’t Touch My Hair singer is the second Black woman to compose for the New York City Ballet, after Lido Pimienta became the first in 2021 with her composition “sky to hold,” according to a statement from the organization provided to CBS.<\/p>\n

Solange shared the news that her score had been selected for the gala last month on social media.<\/p>\n

The ballet will have multiple performances in October, followed by repeat performances in May 2023. <\/p>\n

Choreographing her music is Gianna Reisen, who in 2017 became the youngest person \u2014 at 18 \u2014 to choreograph for the esteemed ballet, according to Playbill. <\/p>\n
