Another intense week of NFL is in the books and with it another chance to roll our boulder up the hill hoping it won’t come chasing down after us. Sisyphus references aside, it’s always good to remember this line of work comes with inherent misses, but it’s the process in fantasy football that defines us.

WEEK 5 QUARTERBACK – Zach Wilson vs. Miami

Wilson checks all the speculative boxes, offering fantasy relief behind center that could potentially stick for the remainder of the season. Hard to imagine saying this after three weeks, but if you’re driving a clunker in need of some horsepower, the Jets just may be the engine to drop under the hood. Throughout the season we’ve discussed the methodology that gets us to these players as we incessantly investigate and why. Zach Wilson has the pedigree, the context, the opportunity, the weapons, and the matchup to headline my QB spec adds.

Fantasy football is predicated on opportunities and identifying those offensive environments that maximize them. I often talk about giddy-up, and the Jets are showing it in spades. They lead the NFL in seconds per play (24.4), total pass plays (175), pass percentage (75%), and pass attempts per game (52). Despite Joe Flacco’s 77.9 QBR and putrid 5.8 yards per attempt, this new high-octane approach has the JETS top 5 in completions per game (30.7) and passing yards per game (286). Find the right source of opportunity, and the counting statistics will follow.
