\tTrevor Noah is leaving The Daily Show.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

\tIt comes seven years after the comedian joined the Comedy Central series. Noah took over from Jon Stewart in 2015.<\/p>\n

\n

\tHe revealed the news at Thursday’s taping of the show (watch the video above). He is the latest late-night host to leave following the announced 2023 exit of James Corden from The Late Late Show <\/em>and the cancellation of Samantha Bee’s Full Frontal.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

\tHe is understood to have been working with the network for a \u201clong time\u201d to figure out how he can maintain the demanding daily schedule.<\/p>\n

\n

\tThe show has been regularly Emmy-nominated but has lost to HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver <\/em>in the main awards category every year since Stewart left. <\/p>\n

\n

\tNoah said he had a feeling of \u201cgratitude\u201d and thanked the audience. \u201cIt’s been wild,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\n

\t\u201cI remember when we first started, so many people thought it was a crazy bet, I still think it was a crazy choice, this random African,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat a journey’s it’s been. It’s been absolutely amazing.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n

\tHe pointed to all the things that he has gone through \u2014 the Trump presidency, the pandemic. \u201cAfter the seven years, my time is up,\u201d he said. \u201cIn the most beautiful way. I’ve loved hosting this show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tHe added that he’ll figure out the timing and will continue hosting the show for the \u201ctime being\u201d. <\/p>\n

\n

\t\u201cWe are grateful to Trevor for our amazing partnership over the past seven years,\u201d said a Comedy Central spokesperson. \u201cWith no timetable for his departure, we’re working together on next steps. As we look ahead, we’re excited for the next chapter in the 25-plus-year history of The Daily Show<\/em> as it continues to redefine culture through sharp and hilarious social commentary, helping audiences make sense of the world around them.\u201d<\/p>\n
