ALLEN PARK — The beat-up Detroit Lions have officially ruled out five players for Sunday’s game against Seattle, including star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, star running back D’Andre Swift and Pro Bowl guard Jonah Jackson.

Kicker Austin Seibert and defensive lineman John Cominsky also will not play, leaving Detroit short-handed in all three phases as it tries to climb back to .500 before a trip to New England.

st. Brown and Swift account for 54% of the offense this season, and their losses will be felt. With fellow wideouts Josh Reynolds and DJ Chark also questionable because of ankle injuries that limited them throughout the practice week, Detroit is expected to lean more heavily on backups like Kalif Raymond and Quintez Cephus. Practice-squaders like Maurice Alexander and Tom Kennedy could also be candidates for one-game elevations to help Detroit get through the weekend.

With Jackson missing a third straight game up front, practice squad offensive tackle Dan Skipper is another candidate for an elevation to the 53-man roster. Skipper has held up well while starting at left guard the last two weeks.

Seibert’s scratch is something of a surprise, given that special teams coordinator Dave Fipp said the injury wasn’t much of an impediment.

“I know he didn’t practice the other day, but I feel good about where he’s at and what will happen with him,” Fipp said. “That being said, we do have the other dude on the practice squad. He’s been great. He had an outstanding workout when we brought him in here and we’re excited about that.”

That other dude on the practice squad is Dominik Eberle, who is now in line to make his NFL debut. He made 64 of 81 field-goal attempts (79.0%) while at Utah State, with a long of 52 yards. He also made all 167 extra-point attempts.
