The top dog versus the rebuilding powerhouse of yesteryear. It’s Clemson versus Florida State under the lights with Kirk Herbstreit on the call. This is what it is all about as a FSU supporter. So who is going to win it?

Clemson offense has found it’s stride again this year behind DJ Uiagelei and an improved WR core. Last year it was drops and missed passes but this year it is explosive for routes and an efficient running game. DJ’s legs have become a big threat for the Clemson offense as they harken back to the days of Tajh Boyd.

The Clemson defense is led by their front 7. First round picks aplenty along the DL and a LB core that’s explosive and excellent at diagnostic plays. The secondary has had some issues in one on one situations down the field. We’ve seen explosive plays down the field be this defense kryptonite. You’ve got to be able to block it up though.

The FSU offense has regressed the last two weeks due to drops, pressure, and inability to handle reactionary blocking. The FSU defense is in a bind as they’ve been a two high team for the majority of the year but haven’t handled running QBs very well and the middle of the defense has been leaky with Fabien Lovett out. Defensive coordinator Adam Fuller will have to pick and choose his spots and attack Clemson with a variety of looks if he wants to stop their offense.

I’m looking at a tight game for 4 quarters and I think one that FSU has a chance to win. However, The Clemson DL scares me too much to pick FSU.

Prediction: Clemson 30, FSU 20
