It is a glucocorticoid prohibited at races when an athlete does not have permission to use it as a medication.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The case has deepened suspicions the substance is a doping product of choice for athletes from Kenya.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The AIU said 10 Kenyans have tested positive for triamcinolone since the start of 2021, with only two cases in athletics from the entire rest of the world in the same period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In a second triamcinolone case revealed on Friday, Kenyan marathon runner Betty Wilson Lempus was also suspended while under investigation for doping and tampering.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_img\"><img class=\"gnt_em_img_i\" style=\"height:460px\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-src=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2022\/10\/14\/USAT\/41f925b8-9d69-4914-a5b1-196d231327fe-2021_boston_marathon.jpg?crop=3412,2376,x272,y95&amp;width=660&amp;height=460&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp\" data-gl-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2022\/10\/14\/USAT\/41f925b8-9d69-4914-a5b1-196d231327fe-2021_boston_marathon.jpg?crop=3412,2376,x272,y95&amp;width=1320&amp;height=920&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp 2x\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Diana Kipyogei of Kenya crosses the finish line to win the 2021 Boston Marathon.\"\/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><strong class=\"gnt_ar_b_al\">STAY UP TO DATE:<\/strong>Subscribe to our Sports newsletter now!<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Kipyokei is also under investigation for \u201cobstructing or delaying the AIU&#8217;s investigation through the provision of false information or documentation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The AIU did not elaborate about the suspicion tampering, which could be related to a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) document athletes need to have before using a medication that is otherwise prohibited.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The 28-year-old Kipyokei faces being banned for at least four years and stripped of her Boston win and $150,000 prize money.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_cp\" aria-label=\"For USA TODAY subscribers\" data-c-cta=\"PREMIUM CONTENT\">\n<div class=\"gnt_em_cp_cw\"><img class=\"gnt_em_cp_cw_i\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-src=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2022\/10\/12\/USAT\/fcbbe6ba-dc41-41c9-903c-c2fef50985b6-whistle-on-money-topper.png?crop=1915,1436,x616,y176&amp;width=258&amp;height=193&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp\" data-gl-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2022\/10\/12\/USAT\/fcbbe6ba-dc41-41c9-903c-c2fef50985b6-whistle-on-money-topper.png?crop=1915,1436,x616,y176&amp;width=516&amp;height=386&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp 2x\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\"\/><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cKipyokei&#8217;s result in the 2021 Boston Marathon will be disqualified, pending the completion of relevant athlete appeals processes,\u201d the Boston Athletic Association, organizer of the race, said in a statement.  \u201cThe BAA will adjust race rankings and will provide prize award adjustments to top finishers of the 2021 event, pending the sanctioning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Kipyokei won the Boston women&#8217;s race in 2 hours, 24 minutes, 45 seconds, which was 24 seconds ahead of her Kenyan compatriot Edna Kiplagat<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Kiplagat, a two-time world champion in the marathon who turns 43 next month, is set to get her second Boston title.
