If you&#8217;re counting, that&#8217;s six days ahead of Ragnarok&#8217;s November 9 release date.  It&#8217;s being tackled by our own Simon Cardy, who you may remember from such reviews as Overwatch 2, Horizon: Forbidden West, and his annual drubbings of FIFA Legendary Edition on Switch.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s about all we can say for the moment, but we&#8217;ll have some spoiler-free thoughts on the first hours to share this Friday at 6am PT, so check back soon!  In the meantime, please weigh in on this crucial question:<\/p>\n<p>Now that that&#8217;s out of the way, let&#8217;s look back at what we thought of the previous game for a reminder on why we&#8217;re so excited to play the new one:<\/p>\n<aside class=\"bordered-box jsx-4023299490 scaled\">\n<h2>What We Said About God of War (2018)<\/h2>\n<p><output class=\"article-video-container\"\/><\/p>\n<p>I expected great action from God of War, and it delivers that handily.  But I didn&#8217;t expect it to be a thrilling journey in which every aspect of it complements the others to form what is nothing short of a masterpiece.  It&#8217;s a game in which Kratos, a previously one-note character, becomes a complex father, warrior, and monster, embattled both on the field and within his own heart about how to treat his son;  one in which the world opens up and shifts, offering rewards in both gameplay and knowledge of its lore that I treasured with each accomplishment.
