A New Series in Los Angeles

The Dodgers? In Los Angeles? big deal. The Cubs beat everybody nowadays. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for the only game of the series against a right-handed pitcher, Tony Gonsolin.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Rafael Ortega, DH
  2. Nico Hoerner, SS
  3. Ian Happ, LF
  4. Seiya Suzuki, RF
  5. Patrick Wisdom, 3D
  6. Alfonso Rivas, 1B
  7. Yan Gomes, C.
  8. Christopher Morel, CF
  9. Andrelton Simmons, 2B

SP: Mark Leiter Jr., RHP

Tony Gonsolin has been pretty close to split neutral this season/for his career, which is to say NOBODY hits him well. I guess that’s fine, because the Cubs aren’t exactly loaded with left-handed bats at the moment anyway.

One of those lefty bats, however, is Rafael Ortega, who is leading off and playing DH tonight. Another is Ian Happ, batting third abd playing left field. And the last Alfonso Rivas, batting sixth and playing first base. Beyond that, Seiya Suzuki is back in the starting lineup, David Bote and Willson Contreras are not, and Yan Gomes is behind the plate.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (9:10 CT).
