Cynthia Nixon reacts to ‘tough’ death of Sarah Jessica Parker’s stepfather

Cynthia Nixon is giving fans an update on how Sarah Jessica Parker is doing following the death of her beloved stepfather, Paul Giffin Forste.

“I think it’s really, really tough, you know?” the “Sex and the City” alum, 56, exclusively told Page Six at PaleyFest NY.

“It’s not just tough for her own loss,” she added, “but certainly for her mom [Barbra Forste]”

Page Six reported late last month that Parker, 57, abruptly bowed out of the New York City Ballet’s 10th Annual Fall Fashion Gala due to a “sudden devastating family situation.”

The actress’ family later released a statement sadly announcing that Paul had died unexpectedly at the age of 76. He had been married to Parker’s mother for 54 years.

“Paul will be remembered with the spirit of loving kindness which was his faith, his special delight in his 13 grandchildren, and his sustained belief in making the world a more charitable, tolerant, and beautiful place for all,” the statement read in part .

On a happier note, Nixon also spoke with Page Six about filming the second season of “And Just Like That…” Executive producer Michael Patrick King has promised big plans for Nixon’s Season 1 love interest Che Diaz, played by Sara Ramirez.

“It’s very, very, very exciting,” Nixon teased. “Sarah Jessica, Kristin [Davis] and I have been texting each other a lot. We did a read-through of the first two episodes a couple of weeks ago and that was amazing and exciting, as it was the first time we were reading it.”

Nixon was at PaleyFest NY to promote her other HBO series, “The Gilded Age.”

She told Page Six that while she loves the high fashion on “And Just Like That…,” she can’t exactly say the same about her costumes for the historical drama, which takes place in the late 19th century.

“We all say, ‘Oh, high heels can sometimes be a challenge to walk in,’ but it’s nothing compared to this,” she joked. “It’s nothing compared to the corsets and the many layers of petticoats and, particularly, the gloves.”

She added, ”I have to say, the corsets are really challenging, but if I was really living in the Gilded Age, having to have, you know, leather gloves on all the time, it would be my downfall.”
