Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa details night of his concussion: ‘I don’t remember being carted off’

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa detailed the night he brought a concussion in a game against the Bengals in Week 4, saying he doesn’t “remember being carted off” the field.

“There was a point I was unconscious. I remember the entire night up until the point I got tackled, ”said Tagovailoa, who spoke to reporters Wednesday for the first time since his injury. “I don’t remember being carted off. I do remember some things from the ambulance and the hospital.”

The 24-year-old has been out since sustaining the concussion on Sept. 29. In the “Thursday Night Football” game, Tagovailoa was slammed hard to the turf by Bengals defensive lineman Josh Tupou in the second quarter and sustained head and neck injuries. Tagovailoa was stretched off the field and had an MRI the next day.

Four days earlier, Tagovialoa left the Dolphins’ Week 3 game against the Bills with an apparent head injury but cleared a concussion check. Having checked all of the boxes, the quarterback returned to action at the start of the third quarter, having missed only three offensive snaps.

The Dolphins and NFL have been under increased scrutiny following Tagovailoa’s Week 4 injury.
