NVIDIA preparing more RTX 30 GPUs
We have confirmed with board partners new models are indeed planned, but they should not be expected for another few weeks.
This is a quick follow-up to the rumor from this week that alleged NVIDIA is making more GeForce RTX 30 GPUs. Our source has now confirmed that at least two of the models are planned, and they should be expected by the end of October.
Just as reported by “MegaSizeGPU”, NVIDIA is indeed making new RTX 30 GPUs. Board partners believe this is an attempt to offer more cards for the mid-range segment, where the competition is now growing.
NVIDIA is set to launch RTX 3060 with 8GB VRAM, so 4GB less than the original model. The current model sells at $350 in US, so sub $300 price for this new 8GB variant is possible.
Furthermore, NVIDIA is also making an updated RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X memory, Just assuming it has the same 19 Gbps memory as RTX 3070 Ti, the memory bandwidth would increase from 448 GB/s to 608 GB/s (36% increase).
There is thus far no confirmation on the RTX 3070 Ti with GA102 GPU, however as mentioned before, such models are often localized and not globally marketed. An example from RTX 30 series is RTX 3060 Ti with GA103 GPU, which is only available through some board partners in China.
We are in the process of confirming full specs for these new mid-range cards, so expect an update soon. The preliminary launch timeframe indicates that these cards may appear after the first RTX 40 models are released.
