How NBA2K gave Jordan Poole belief in Warriors’ Game 2 comeback vs. Mavericks

The Warriors’ largest deficit in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals on Friday night was 19 and they trailed the Dallas Mavericks by 14 at halftime.

And while the Warriors didn’t look good in the first half, by now, everyone should know that the Steve Kerr-led Warriors never are out of a game, especially in the NBA playoffs.

Per ESPN Stats and Info, the Warriors’ comeback 126-117 win over the Mavericks at Chase Center was the 12th time since Kerr took over in 2014 that they have won a playoff game when trailing by at least 15 points.

The 19-point comeback also was the third largest in franchise history.

So how did the Warriors maintain the belief that they could mount a rally in the second half against the Mavericks?

At least for Jordan Poole, it has to do with his use of a video game.

“I play a lot of [NBA2K] and if you get down in 2K, there’s a lot of game left, “Poole told Tim Roye and Tom Tolbert on 95.7 The Game after the win.” 2K will make sure you get back in the game. So just continue to fight for the full 48, stick to what we do. Shots are going to fall. We’re going to execute and once we get a rhythm going, it’s pretty hard to stop us. I think we were able to show that tonight. “
